The Temple Gives Back

"Movie Night/Food Drive"

Thank you to everyone who came to Movie Night! We donated close to 200 items to Agape Distribution in Sidney!! 


"30 Pieces of Silver"

Last year we collected over $1,000 from this program, which was donated to a Missions program in Chile.This year, as we are focused on our community, we will be donating the proceeds to Big Brother's Big Sister's program. 

From coins to dollars, we encourage EVERYONE and ANYONE, member or non to donate! You will receive a donation bag for "30 Pieces of Silver" on March 23rd. Anyone in need of additional donation bags can pick them up at the Welcome Center. The "30 Pieces of Silver" offering will be collected Easter Day, April 20th.


"Helicopter Egg Drop"

We had around 1,000 people that participated in this event! We hope everyone enjoyed their time with us! Keep an eye for this event next year! 

What is Big Brother's Big Sister's? 

At-risk youth between the ages of 5 and 16 are matched with a positive adult mentor who offers them guidance, support, and friendship and meets with them two times a month. In our community, there has been 48 high school volunteers, serving 55 children considered at-risk or in need of support.

Facts about Big Brother's Big Sister's

  • Research shows that children matched with a mentor are more likely to succeed in school and in life.
  • Children matched with Big Brothers or Sisters are:
    • ​52% less likely to skip a day of school
    • 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs
    • 64% more confident of their ability to perform their schoolwork
  • It costs an average of $1,000-$2,000 a year to make and monitor a match.
  • The core program now has 72 community based matches in Shelby County.

What is Agape Distribution? 

Located at 209 S. Brooklyn in Sidney.

  • A non-profit agency serving the economically disadvantaged, and assisting other non-profits with products and supplies that help fulfill their mission to the hurting.
  • Agape Distribution host one of the largest free grocery stores in Ohio, which also serves all of Shelby County directly with the addition of a Mobile Food Pantry. Their goal is to make it hard to go hungry.
  • In 2010, Agape provided 1,683,000 pounds of groceries with children accounting for 38% of those we serve and seniors 10%.
  • Their vision is to dispel homelessness in children and the under priviledged by redistributing the material wealthy of the world.
